Achtsamkeit - Ausgeglichenheit

In English

Shiatsu as well as acupressure are both recognized methods in the field of complementary medicine. They originate in the traditional far-eastern philosophy and medical studies . As such, the holistic view of the human being is central. Body, soul and mind form a unity and are part of nature and the continuously changing dynamics of its macro-cosmos. They are both a whole-body approach therapy.

Acupressure originates from the traditional Chinese Medicine. It applies manual pressure on the acupuncture points (no needles used) and involves Chinese traditional massage.

Shiatsu is an adapted therapy developed in Japan incorporating techniques of ancient Chinese / Japanese massage work, acupressure, and stretching.

They apply pressure to special points or areas on the body in order to maintain physical and mental well being, treat complaints, or alleviate discomfort. The therapy is considered holistic because it attempts to treat the whole person instead of a specific symptom. The physical pressure and stretching on the body tissue impacts the fascia and works on the human energy field, setting impulses on the entire body and the meridians (energy channels). This harmonization of the energy has a positive effect on the self-regulatory forces.

The treatment has many benefits to the body and mind. Here is a list of some of those benefits:

Strengthen resilience, increase well-being, improve breathing, restore and maintain the body's energy equilibrium, improve circulation and body functions.

They are applied for promotion and preservation of health as well as for prevention. They can be used to treat several complaints, including:

Stress, nervousness, sleep disorder

Fatigue, exhaustion, burnout, depressive mood

Tension and pain (migraine, headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, backaches)

Digestive and eating disorder

Further they are a valuable support to manage

life crises and changes in life circumstances (pregnancy, menopause, ...).

After treatment temporary reactions such as fatigue, mood swings or slight muscle ache may occur. It is recommended  to rest after a session. The massage can trigger an up-coming cold. In the event of fever or short time after a recent surgery, no massage will be executed.

Neither Shiatsu nor acupressure make any diagnosis and is no replacement for a medical or psychiatric treatment.
